Response to IC blog post

I was reading are you faithful in taking your Ic meds, and it got me thinking. I’ve really only taken two medications faithfully and daily for my IC. One was ditropan years ago that slowed down the urges and made life a little more tolerable but didn’t do a thing for the pain. Today I’m on Elavil and that is doing a little of what the ditropan did and does a little pain relief too, plus I’m sleeping through the night instead of getting up over and over again. A huge help in that area.

I have tried the instillations once, and the pain and the cramping from it was intense for hours and never did it again. I would say I’m completely unfaithful to that treatment.

Other than that, I try to eat right, I try to stay hydrated, and avoid things that I know are triggers. I’m not a slave to my pills and I never want to be, but I do see that consistent medication and correct dosages of the RIGHT meds (tailored to the individual) can really help.

Thanks for a fascinating blog post that really got me thinking.
