Grief and Pain
When you’ve been struck by grief, for whatever the reason, you tend to shut down. You’re not drinking as many fluids as you’ll need, you’re not hungry, and things may start to really hit your body hard. There are the sleepless nights, the worry, the stress, all different things that drain you of both energy and the ability to refuel that energy.
Remember to breathe, drink a glass of water, do some simple stretching exercises, anything that keeps you mobile and hydrated. Once dehydrated it will take your body tons longer to get rehydrated than to lose it. Remember that your body’s liquid waste should be clear, or the palest yellow. Not dark yellow, or worse hinting at brown. This tells you immediately that something is wrong and you need fluids.
Sadness can do many things, and you can slip into a state of not caring quicker than you can imagine. Keep a distraction around so that you can pull yourself out of the pit once you feel yourself slipping.
We’ve all grieved at least once in our lives, chances are we’ll be grieving several more times as well. But for anyone going through it right now, simple reminders may need to be given. Hydrate. Take care. Sleep. Rest.
