The Schedule I Drug Classification
Thanks to the Controlled Substances Act all drugs go into one of five different schedules, or classifications, and is controlled by both the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) and the Department of Justice with the Department of Health and Human Services. This is a overview of the Schedule I drug classification.
Schedule I
These drugs are ones with no medical use and have the most ability to be abused. Drugs such as LSD and Heroin and things are placed in this category. When, and if, Marijuana is determined to have medical benefit, it will be moved out of Schedule I to another schedule. For now, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug. These are not going to be in pharmacies and will not be available with any prescription. These drugs have a serious lack of safety in their distribution and their usage.
